Name change

If you have been following the Cake With Elegance blog, you will now notice a change in name when you surf to this site.

Yes, I got my very own custom domain, Party With Cakes. I am still the same person doing the same thing I love ... baking and decorating cakes.

Cake With Elegance readers will not be left out. If you type out the previous blog address, you will be directed to Party With Cakes.

Why the name change? Well, I wanted a name that set a happy and partying mood for my cakes.

So, that's it! Head over to www.partywithcakes.com to check out my special party treats.

You can e-mail me at yuha@partywithcakes.com for orders and inquiries.

All the way from Holland

A special someone received this cake as a gift for her birthday today.

The sender is in Holland and made arrangements thru his cousin to get this cake for the special lady.

Something sweet and simple.

Three Musketeers

My nephew will be celebrating his birthday tomorrow with his cousins in Singapore. How apt... born on Labour Day. If you know what I mean. :)

All three will be celebrating their birthday in double digits but you will only see single digit numbers on the cake. They wanted it that way for the fun of it.

The floral design is for the gal who will be 14. The music notes is for my nephew who is soooo into music. He will be 17.

And finally, the ball-themed cake is for a football fan who turns 10. A short drama behind this cake. The cake initially had Manchester United logos on the cake. My sister inlaw thought the birthday boy is an MU fan but later found out that he is an Arsenal supporter.

At the 11th hour rescue, I could not do anything Arsenal related, hence the footballs. Would not want to upset the birthday boy, would we?

Squires Kitchen demo

Over the weekend, Squires Kitchen International School of Sugarcraft & Cake Decorating (UK) showcased their product launch at ICCA.

ICCA founder Rosalind Chan was at hand to do the demo. All those who attended got to sample the new products. There were lots of goodies but my personal favourites were the chocolate mousse and the marzipan.

The chocolate mousse was really chocolatey... something chocolate lovers can look forward to. There were two types of marzipan: One from Canada and the other from the UK. Both had a pleasant taste to it. I loved the Canadian one.

The products are pricey. But this is only expected after the conversion from British pounds to Malaysian ringgit. :)

Show me the Mini

I am so excited. I feel like a child who has just got her latest toy.

Yes, I have my car. A Mini Cooper! I finally learned how to sculpt a car out of cake. And I am happy how it turned out.

This is the masterpiece I created during the class. It was a hands-on class held at Cake Connection. Our sifu was none other than 'cake guru' Mama Min.

Even though the class was long ... hours of carving, kneading, rolling, cutting and decorating; we had lots of fun. The end result was awesome. It was worth every minute of the class.

Car cake, anyone?

This is a long distance gift from a cousin to a cousin who celebrated his 1st birthday last saturday. The birthday boy loves tigers and ferraris.

Here's a simple black and white themed cake for a special lady who was celebrating her 36th birthday.

Happy Hour

I made this cake for a friend's birthday. A wine bottle in a crate. She is a wine lover. And loves chocolate cake as well.

Out of action

Been out of action for more than a week. My eye decided to take a break. Away from work and everything else. Did nothing but rest.

I was itching to bake and decorate. The only baking I did was to try out a recipe for a Pepsi cake. Yes, you heard right... a Pepsi cake. I didn't think the cake would turn out right when I looked at the recipe, initially. I had to reduce the sugar in the recipe. Way too much sugar!

In the end, the cake turned out well. I was surprised that the cake actually tasted good.

Money, money, money

These were made for a group of final year accounting students who were doing a project paper on a cake house. Their cake house is called Simple Bliss. The cakes were ordered for their presentation.

Received an sms from them saying that the presentation went well and their lecturer liked the cakes. Glad it went well for them. :)
